Accuracy Measurement

Measuring watches for accuracy is very simple with Watchee.

To get started with accuracy measurements, select the Accuracy tab.

Next, tap the Plus button in the top menu to start a new measurement.

Select the watch you wish to measure from the collection list. After selecting the watch, an important step for accurate measurement occurs. When the second hand of your watch reaches precisely the twelve o’clock position, tap the Start button.

Next, very importantly, use the “-1 min” or the “+1 min” button to adjust the time shown on the screen to match your watch at the moment of starting the test.

You can conveniently select the measurement environment to indicate whether the watch is on wrist, on table and in what position, etc. Environment is important since mechanical watch accuracy tends to be different in various use cases.

We recommend running each test at least for 12 hours for the best results. However, you can check intermediate results. For example, if you start an accuracy test in the morning and would like to check an intermediate result at lunch then select the Accuracy tab and tap the folder icon in the upper-left. Choose “In progress measurements,” which shows the ongoing measurements at the top of the measurements list.

Select the measurement you wish to check and tap the “End” button when the second hand of your watch reaches precisely twelve o’clock position. This will not stop the measurement yet! You can set the measurement environment here as well.

Next and very importantly, use the “-1 min” or the “+1 min” button to adjust the time that is shown on the screen to match your watch at the moment of ending (or checking the intermediate result of) the test.

After adjusting the time shown on the screen, you can tap the confirm button, which will reveal the accuracy test result so far. You then have two options, either “Finish measurement & save result” or “Continue measuring…”

For the purpose of this example, we chose the “Continue measuring…” option. Choosing to continue returns us back to the list of measurements. For a more accurate test result, continue the test at least 12 hours. You can see the “Measuring: 5h 17 min” in the list showing the time this measurement particular test has been active.

After 12 hours have passed we choose the active measurement again.

Again we use the “-1min” and “+1min” buttons to adjust the time correctly to match the time of our mechanical watch at the moment of ending the test.

After tapping the “Confirm” button, we have our final result. It seems the watch accuracy is +2 seconds per day. Choosing the “Finish the measurement & save result” option will store the result, which we can view as desired.
